Attractions in Sydney, Tours and places to visit, here are 10 of the Best!

  • The Sydney Opera House
  • If attractions in Sydney were based on notoriety, the Sydney Opera House would be first on the list. This is definately one of the most famous landmarks in the world. Situated in Sydney Harbour at Bennelong Point it surely is a must see visit for anyone coming to Sydney. I'd advise taking one of the one hour guided tours or if your in town long enough going to one of the shows. The Opera House is located near Circular Quay where one can enjoy a coffee at the most famous harbour in the world.

  • Taronga Zoo
  • Taronga Zoo is one of the most enjoyable and fun things to do in Sydney, its located in the Suburb of Mosman, this is an excellent place to spend the day, the zoo features a large collection of Australian indigenous animals (which are in themselves a Sydney Attraction) as well as a wide range of exotic species. See anything from a Kangaroo to a South American Condor. The Zoo has a strong conservation policy that stands out in their vision statement 'To inspire Australians and our visitors to explore, discover, delight in and protect our natural world.

  • The great thing about the Royal Botanical Gardens is that you can combine your trip with a visit to the Opera House. This is one of the most famous walks in Sydney, from the opera house move on to the Macquaries Chair for one of the best look out spots in Sydney and then on to the gardens. Explore the 75 acres of gardens and check out the flying foxes that have inhabited the gardens since the early 1900's.

  • Ferry to Manly
  • One of the best way's to experience the harbour and one of the highlights of a visit to Sydney is taking the ferry to Manly. The ferry ride is only 30 minutes and you will be able catch it from Circular Quay were they mostly depart every 30 minutes. On board you will be able to take in all the views of the most famous harbour in the world. Upon arrival enjoy a stroll around the Manly Scenic Walkway which takes you towards to the beach.

  • A Trip to the Blue Mountains
  • The Blue Mountain National Park is located west of Sydney, travel out early in the morning and see 'the three sisters' and other stunning views. Breathe the fresh air and relax away from the hustle and bustle of the city, as you marvel at a magnificent landscape of waterfalls and awe-inspiring sandstone structures.

  • The Rocks
  • The Rocks is the oldest district in Sydney, this is where the first settlers set up home built by the convicts using mud and sandstone and that how the area got its name so its a Sydney Tour not to be missed. Nowadays, the Rocks is nestled at the feet of Sydney Harbour bridge and has the highest concentration of historic buildings in Sydney that reflects its illustrious past. There are also lots of bars and restaurants in the area and a vibrant market every weekend. A great time to visit The Rocks if you're in town is St Patrick's day when the street's and many establishments are in party mode with lots of live music and entertainment.

  • Luna Park
  • Located on the North Side of the Harbour Bridge, Luna Park in one of Sydney's Icons, spend a day at the amusements and rides in this historical amusement park first opened in 1935. The park has been refurbished and restored to its glorious past in 2004. You'll be greeted on arrival by the unmistakable enormous smiling face that can be seen from the other side of the harbour. This is a great way to have some fun with the family when you're in Sydney.

  • Sail Around Sydney Harbour
  • Sail around Sydney Harbour's for a magnificent 2 hour personalised tour around one of the most beautiful harbours in the world. Have lunch on board and enjoy great views of the cockle bay and the opera house. Take the wheel, trim the sails or just sit back and relax. Tours can be organised at the harbour itself.

Darling Harbour

  • Motorbike Tour of Sydney
  • One of my personal favourites, its a great and unique way to see Sydney and the surrounding areas, rent a motorbike or be a passenger on the back of a Harley through the Streets of Sydney. There are many Sydney tours on Motorbikes to choose, from a 30 Harley Davidson tour of the Rocks to a 3 hour tours of The Blue Mountains. This is definitely an experience you'll never forget. Highly recommended!!
