Planes, Trains and Automobiles - All your Travel Information for Bondi Beach
Getting there is easy, travel by car, hail a cab, jump on the train to Bondi Junction (located 2km from the beach) and then catch a bus from the Bondi Junction Interchange to Bondi.
Bondi is located in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney and is easily accessible from the city being the closest beach to the CBD.

Be warned when driving to Bondi as there are limited parking spaces at the beach which can be a hassle during the summer weekends, also there are Parking Meters (and the dreaded inspectors) at the beach and on most of the surrounding streets.
Travelling from outside Sydney
In a Car
Whether it's backpacking around Australia or Moving to the big city a lot of people will be driving their own vehicle. There are four main highways that provide access to Sydney.
- The Pacific Highway -(Highway One) Leads Northwards out of Sydney, it links Brisbane in Queensland to Sydney in New South Wales
- The Great Western Highway -leads westward to Strathfield and Paramatta. It runs 210 km from Sydney to Bathurst.
- The Princes Highway -(part of highway one)leads to Wollongong and the south coast. The Highway approximately follows the coastline between the three cities.
- The Hume Highway -and the Hume Highway leads southwest out of the city to Mittagong and eventually Melbourne. Traveling by this road and you'll arrive in Sydney via the Paramatta Road.
Sydney (Kingsford Smith) International Airport, is located in the suburb of Mascot. The Airport is about ten kilometers (6.2 miles) south of Sydney's central business district. It is the major airport serving Sydney and is a major hub for Qantas. Sydney Airport is the world's oldest continually operated commercial airport, and the busiest commercial airport in Australia, handling 31.9 million passengers and 290,346 flights in 2007.
If arriving from outside Australia you will have to pass through quarantine as well as customs, so make sure you're not carrying any food or anything illegal as sniffer dogs patrol the airport.
Kingsford Smith was a Famous Australian Aviator, he was the first to make a trans-Pacific flight to Australia and also flying solo won the England to Australia Air Race in 1930
Central Railway Station is the largest railway station in Sydney. It is located on the southern end of the Sydney CBD. It services almost all of the lines on the CityRail network, and is the major terminal for intercity and interstate rail services. Central Station is also interchange point for country and interstate trains and most of the country and interstate bus services. Some of the bus companies have booking offices location in and around the station.
Coach is one the cheapest and most enjoyable ways to travel around Australia. No doubt if you're traveling into Sydney this way you'll be using one of the Highways I've mentioned above. The main companies operating Bus Services around Australia are McCafferty's, Greyhound, Premier, Murray's and Firefly.
There are two Airport Express bus routes. They are yellow and green buses and numbered 300 and 350. They both follow the same routes into the city as far as Central Station, where you can catch another Bus or Train to your end destination.
